Great point about testing. The knee jerk reaction to defend this enormous rewrite because it passes a test suite reminds me of a Rick Hickey classic: what’s true of every bug found in the field? It passed all the tests.

I agree with most points, but I believe the main reason behind TigerBeetle’s lack of memory errors is that they follow the power of 10 rules and do not manage memory dynamically beyond initialization. Team culture and aligning with Zig philosophy are far behind in importance.


I wish the thoughts weren’t AI slop.

The point of rust was to be low level, and take entire classes if use after free and double free bugs out using strict compiler enforcement.

That is a biiiiiiiiiig deal. So yeah that is why Zig is inadequate as the project scales.
