I'd put a lot more faith in this if their results didn't just show that people attribute traits to their mothers like tolerance, empathy, monogamy (positive traits that most people want in a relationship anyway) and look for those in a partner but had instead found that people whose mothers were narcissistic, controlling, or emotionally distant overwhelmingly sought out partners who shared those traits.
