That seems like a lot of work. Can I just not be rude?

The traditional advice to "be professional" might be better in many cases.

My observation is that employees usually maintain employment by fitting into office/work culture and leaving their private selves at home.

Most importantly, it seems like a good strategy to suppress anything personal that could be considered negative.
