It's sort of surprising that loud announcements about no longer enforcing western copyrights haven't been made. Such things would seem like an easy political win, and also walking back said statements are also then a valuable bartering chip for the future.

Same, it sounds like a smart statement to make to garner some popular support. Though, judging by the current situation on the fronts, they probably have bigger things to worry about.
