I doubt Apple has not thought about the PR & policy consequences of such an iPhone backdoor. For me, it's even more sad to see Apple using the fight against CSAM, a noble cause, as a shield and a way to convince the masses that breaking its promise to protect privacy is OK. "What happens in your iPhone stays on your iPhone [no longer]". There is no court oversight, no laws, it's automated mass surveillance.
