> Agreed. Enthusiast gamers fret/obsess over a small difference in FPS, refresh rate and lag especially when it comes to competitive gaming. Until Google can deliver a service that is indistinguishable, it’s DOA in my view.
I work for Google, opinions are my own.
I agree but I don't consider this service to be for hardcore enthusiasts. The enthusiasts will continue to buy their powerful gaming machines because they really care about having the best experience.
I think this is great for someone like me, who likes video games, but doesn't want to spend that much money on a computer. Before I would not be able to play the latest titles because my computer is 6 years old, but this would make it so I could.
There are probably tons of kids out there whose parents would scoff at the idea of giving them a $1000+ computer but now would be able to play the latest games with this technology.
All that assuming it works, of course, which is no guarantee.

Presumably this service is not going to be free, and the overall cost for someone who plays a lot of games would probably be similar to just getting a $1000+ PC and using it for 3-4 years. Of course maybe the pricing will prove me wrong.
how are those parents gonna react when their entire month's data plan gets used up in a weekend? honestly i would rather see google try and cut in on the handheld market by creating peripheral controllers for android devices. every smartphone in the world is four buttons and a dpad away from being the best gameboy ever made.
