Excellent overview, thank you. WebAssembly is something I have seen mentioned for maybe 10 years but I never really took time to actually figure out what it is. I suppose I still don't truly know but for a 2 minute read, it cleared up a lot of my misunderstanding.
That X-Copy Screenshot was a blast from the past. A friend and I used to combine our pocket money, goto a local independent sport shop that had a tiny Amiga game corner and buy a game then X-Copy it. None of us remember how we learned about that. Was probably the guy in the sport shop itself. Amazing days.
I really enjoyed this, thanks for writing the article. Just the idea of bits of Actionscript on Frames and figuring that out would have made me quit never mind everything else. I miss Flash. I used to love the Flex Builder/SWC setup as I used to be really productive with it.
If something is viewable to the public, I can record all day and film everyone's number plates as I am not a business and don't need permission so I am not a data controller. If the people I am recording do not like that, they can feel free to use private roads only (which are not viewable from a public place) or not have a vehicle and problem solved. The onus is on them.
As you say though, there are many specific's such as filming from public to within a private dwelling and causing distress. etc
