Never enough

Depends on the neighborhood

Using MakeMKV to digitize these skips these intro screens by default (< 120 seconds), so I don't see them.

If this is noteworthy, the burden of proof should be on the poster, not the reader to substantiate these claims.

I don't really like this take, as it tries to make being informed somehow not the readers responsibility.

Sorry, not going to open a cold case file for every HN claim. Citations would be good. I'd read them.

Maybe just Occam's Razor -- any time I've seen Sam talk in public he just seems to be a neurotic, anxious individual that would have a hard time interacting with people in any normal context. In a world of infinite variables it's hard to say that his aversion was due to your race -- there's really not much to go on here.

Why would you think Occam's Razor would not determine that racism is the reason? It's just as simple of an explanation as anxiety.

I'm not sure some people understand how "normal" racism is.

Racism is a social bias that isn't "hardwired". It does not trigger the "fight or flight" response like was described in the earlier tale. Anxiety, of course, describes a "fight or flight" system that is malfunctioning. It is the most likely explanation because that is what was originally described. Mind you, the story could have been misrepresented. We do have to put our faith into what was written.

Another comment suggested that Altman was once beat up by a black man. If true, it is possible Sam has developed a conditioned response that associates black men with danger and his reaction stemmed from that. However, that isn't the same thing as racism and to try and categorize it as such would be quite disingenuous.

It's 2026, the "fuck" modifier for post titles by "thought leaders" has been done already ad nauseam. Time to retire it and give us all a break.

I was the DD for my friend's bachelor party and as we were leaving the bar, I saw this older gentleman struggling to start his vehicle. I had a hard time making out what he was telling me, but it looked like he had one of these devices on his car. Being the Good Samaritan that I am, I blew into the device, his car started, and he went happily on his way.

I assume you're joking, Either way. One morning when I took the bus to work the bus driver had repeated problems getting the bus to start due to the breathalyser. I heard him complain to the passenger behind him, about it malfunctioning. The passenger volunteered to test this theory, by also blowing into the device. The driver handed him the hose, the passenger gave it a go, the bus started, and the driver shrugged his shoulders, and off we went, only slightly delayed.

I'm not sure if this is preventable.

Why does the bus have a breathalyzer rather than a damn manager who can fire the worker who smells of booze?

Dunno where the parent comment was referring to, but different countries have different standards. In Colombia the bus transit stations all have breathalyzer stations and the drivers have to pass the breathalyzer before starting their shifts. It was pretty wild to see as an outsider but completely unremarkable to everyone else.

If it's as flaky as my experience upthread suggests, maybe it was just that. At least, that's what I hope, for the sake of those on the bus

Lots of troll-only accounts, recently (flagged this comment for this reason).

Is an email the best way to report these?

Guess your joke about bypassing breath interlocks didn't go over too well.

Rare instance where the use of the "normie" pejorative isn't an insult

Will they transition to having Americans make them too?

Could you imagine that?
