iirc this was a register level exploit. no software in iOS or macOS touched the undisclosed register, but when the right secret key was entered, you got full read/write primitives on the silicon
During COVID, I was able to set up my 5DS (a ~10yo model now) as a webcam for free. Did they stop supporting the software they released to do that or just paywalled it?
Edit: I saw they accessed his Mac but they had his password. File Vault 2 wasn’t bypassed, and afaik has never been cracked.
