Nearix, there is no conspiracy here. By the way I don't have any connection to YC whatsoever. HN is not your normal tech news site. You and I, although not related to HN, have the chance to address an issue. There is no "editor".

However as already mentioned by other users, it is normal for people that are closer to YC, to cause a viral effect for people they know.

I suppose that what we have to consider(as general users of this site), is if we get valuable information from this site. I have been reading HN for about 2 years and I believe, it has been a good source of information. As all sources of information you have to consider the articles that are more relevant to you. Being "top" ranked in HN will not make your startup/application better if it doesn't benefit the user.

I believe Thanasis gives a good insight of his efforts to find the right path. Great article. As in most situations there is no "right" path.

For people asking on what is the big difference to do something outside a major innovation hub, this is something been discussed so many times. In fact this question is self-contradictory, because the guy that wrote it, reads HN a SF news incubator, which in fact started off from another city and moved to SF! They should have an idea why they did that. In fact they explained how beneficial this move was.

Now off course there are other hubs of innovation, but everyone has his own reasons for deciding.

If you read the general guideline about using hacker news, it says that if you want to ask a question about YC you have to email them and not post here.

Besides it is not very polite to post an IP, either it is from YC or not.

I guess I wasn't aware of any etiquette about not posting IP addresses. No harm meant... Is there a way to actually edit, or delete a post for that matter?

Maybe it would be a good thing for Hacker News to explain this little detail to new readers of the list. I had to post an article first, to really check how post ranking works.

I am not saying that some articles do not deserve to have a better chance of reading, relevant to popularity. Instead I believe it would be valuable to Hacker News to have more informed readers. Otherwise there is a big chance that the "popularity" ranking can be mishandled for a number reasons, from people trying to have a "top" posting.

A reader of the list.

I made a round of 20 good firm inquiries and no one defers. It is difficult to get an intro when you are from another country, although I have a potential patent to go along my business plan. Thank you for the feedback! I am posting first time, although I read HN almost daily and I didn't realize how difficult it is to get some traction on a question!

You need an intro to get a deferred fee deal. You can't just contact people cold.

Oops. Just realized who pg is. That's not what I do though. I can explain but I will have to take it offline. Thanks anyway.
