The Senior Software Engineer is a generalist role. In this role you'll be:
* joining a small tight-knit team of six smart engineers
* reporting directly to the Founder & CEO
* designing and implementing a core set of microservices hosted on GCP
* writing software primarily in golang, with some typescript and python or bash scripting on the side
* deploying your code to Kubernetes and working with our DevOps lead to automate your deployments

Oort | Principal Engineer | Lowell, Greater Boston Area, MA | REMOTE or ONSITE

As a stealth network security startup, we're on a mission to build a better, safer, faster Internet. We're creating something we call the Oort Cloud. It's a globally-distributed security fabric built into the edge of the Internet itself. We're enabling a new paradigm of Enterprise security through a decentralized, distributed, and highly-available architecture.
We're seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our core team as our lead data path engineer. Without going into too much detail, we're building a packet processing system using Linux networking tools including iptables, network namespaces, and virtual switching. Ideal experience includes high-performance software-based packet processing, Linux kernel tuning, network protocols, as well as some familiarity with open source security tools. Experience in C, C++, and one or more higher-level languages such as Python. Familiarity with Docker containers and designing scalable, fault-tolerant, highly available system architectures is also beneficial.
Skillset: Linux networking, iptables, DPDK, SR-IOV, Software-defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), fd.io, VPP, containers, and Kubernetes.
