As much as the results of this study confirm what I would expect, keep in mind it was an observational study and not a controlled experiment. There might be some other factor at play in the vegan group, say, other than just their diet.

Unfortunately I imagine an experiment to further investigate this would be hard to get past an ethics board. I.e. wounding the participants to see the effect on scar formation...


Nice. I like the distinction the author identified - coincidentally similar vs. fundamentally similar code. I think the passage of time is sometimes the only way to tell the difference between the two. More specifically, by seeing if the code changes in all places for the same reasons.

I think there's a step missing before step 0: first be sure that you've actually made a mistake. And don't assume that the existence of an angry internet mob is any evidence of a mistake on your part. Perhaps it's best to talk things through with a trusted friend/adviser first.
