Yeah, everyone knows who Levels is.

It's a silly example to use. There's basically no one else like him, and the product only got this much traction because he's already an influencer. He's such an outlier.

I guess I was today's 1/ 10,000

I had seen him on Twitter but took a second to connect this blog to that account.

lol, that came off a bit more condescending than I intended. when I posted that I didn't actually realize he was the author either. I thought you were just using him as an example. I still stand by what I said that that guy's career path isn't exactly replicable.

Really liked this read. Is anyone able to explain how the backup.timer runs the backup.service? It wasn't obvious to me where the trigger was defined. I guess it's just inherent to what that unit type does, and the fact that both units are named backup? What is the name for that "package" of units that make up the whole backup program?

> I guess it's just inherent to what that unit type does, and the fact that both units are named backup?

Correct. If there's no `Unit=` specified in the timer unit, it defaults to the service unit of the same name. See https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/latest/syst...

This is also a common pattern for the socket units of socket activated services

The amount of virtue signalling going on to turn this article into some kind of moral issue is just wild

Petty virtue signalling is very much a curse of social media, even modern discourse.

It is at its worst when used to pile-on a speaker or post for uttering some perceived slight, or daring to suggest an unpopular idea or political view. It is bad for open discourse, even open society, and needs to stop.

"Apple has indicated that a future version of macOS may not allow unsigned code to run at all"

Anyone have a source for when Apple has indicated this?
