just use military budget for that, it will be 7% instead of 70%

Too late now. Multiple people having anything to say when choosing hardware and software, including me, will no longer advise or approve buying windows machine or using windows in general.

Because it is just cheap damage control. They somehow remembered only now about things that should be there since the very beginning.

This is just cheap damage control, just wait and see if they actually do all of those things correctly. Slow file explorer was an issue since very beginning of windows 11 and they "fix" it only now? But they took time to add copilot to snippet tool?

which is nothing in comparison to leaking all of personal information

you can also introduce some jitter like changing age range only once a week/month/year for everyone

Birthday, zip code and gender is enough to uniquely identify most Americans.

Well don't reveal your birthday then. Wait 5 days to confirm >18.

If you run into a liquor store yelling "Im finally 18, here's proof." that's on you?

Of course you can still break the law. People are complaining that it's now illegal to do what you suggested

1 it requires DOB

2 it requires DOB to be accurate

Reason is a bit different - print version was built in adblocker so they got rid of it…

But it only shows how wasteful your new bridge is. Concrete being cheaper does not mean you somehow need to use more of it.

MP4 is container, not format, so if you have unsupported format packed into MP4 container it won’t be played. Example is trying to play AV1 video codec on devices with M2 chip or older. It won’t play. But it will play on devices with M3 chip and newer. Easiest solution is to use other player so that you can watch any MP4 file but with software decoding where hardware decoding is not available. Examples of such players are MPV or VLC.

Yes, VLC works fine for playing. The user wanted to edit some mp4 videos with iMovie (vs ffmpeg).

I think it was an M4 Mac. Does iMovie need a codec pack? I know some PC OEMs don't ship an h.265 codec, pointing users to a $0.99 download. Thought Mac would include it, being aimed at content creators. Hoping for a cheaper solution than Adobe Premiere.

H265 is different codec, and exactly because of that license fee both VP9 and AV1 exist. Apple was hiding VP9 support for long time now and AV1 support is now official.

As always „it depends”

- info - when this was expected and system/process is prepared for that (like automatic retry, fallback to local copy, offline mode, event driven with persistent queue etc) - warning - when system/process was able to continue but in degraded manner, maybe leaving decision to retry to user or other part of system, or maybe just relying on someone checking logs for unexpected events, this of course depends if that external system is required for some action or in some way optional - error - when system/process is not able to continue and particular action has been stopped immediately, this includes situation where retry mechanism is not implemented for step required for completion of particular action - fatal - you need to restart something, either manually or by external watchdog, you don’t expect this kind of logs for simple 5xx

And is in even worse state than switch 1 version was… that’s achievement in itself I guess…
