I (Jake) joined in February and love the people, the mission, and the challenges of the market. Mortgage servicing is one of those remaining businesses that hasn't been disrupted by software yet; Valon is (finally) the first to build new end-to-end software.
Valon’s mission is to champion homeowners as the partner they trust with their home and future. Our ultimate goal is to guide homeowners through every step of their financial journey, no matter what life puts on their path. Mortgage servicing is a a-cyclical business and gets paid a recurring revenue based on mortgage loans outstanding (which doesn't really change even when mortgage originations slow). Our revenue grew to $30 million in 2023 as we 5x'd our loan count.

Hi Lisa,
I have sent an email, looking forward to hear from you. I have been into similar industry since 6+ years where I have helped teams to build high quality AWS based cloud platform using API's.
He worked his arse off for years and had a huge following before this album launched. This was his biggest song before The Heist was released: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWhx-CtPmBU (story about addiction and his struggle to overcome it). When The Heist launched he emailed/tweeted/blogged his fans and got enough of a response to hit #1 on iTunes in <24 hrs. I saw him perform about 3 years ago in Bellingham, Washington so this overnight success story involved a lot of hard work to accomplish.
How would this actually work? Unless a bond has to be posted the troll would just make sure the trolling entity (almost always a separate company shielding liability from true owner) has zero assets to pay the legal bills. Or did I misunderstand something?
At least it would keep them from using them to extort money from other victims.
A patent troll could lose without the patent being invalidated. It could be that the patent is enforceable, but not in this particular case (a case where a jury finds the defendant wasn't actually infringing).
We've seen patent trolls go after victims with nebulous claims that might not win in court even though the patent wasn't likely to be invalidated.
This may prevent those situations because if they lose and they have to hand over the patent, it deprives them of future extortion money.
It may at the least limit the scope of companies they go after to actual likely infringers.
I'm not sure about patents, but at least with copyright the judge in the Righthaven case ruled that Righthaven lacked standing to sue because they didn't have exclusive rights to the copyright.
I only bring it up because in the first paragraph you said it started as a side project. I apologize for my comment though, this was a bad thread to post it.
My original point though, was that sometimes I feel like we make these apps, because that's what we're capable of making by ourselves. The links you posted are great opportunities for what we can do together. But I think there's still a large opportunity out there. Think about how many people actually completed the Stanford AI course. I think it was something close to 20k. There's a HUGE amount of people who have day jobs, but have the potential to do BIG things on the side. Except they're all off on their own, so they build iphone apps.
The two problems we see with getting all the photos your friends took with you are 1) you have to remember to share and whom you want to share with and 2) its a pain to share them all with just a couple people (and have their photos added as well). We think all that work is what prevents us from getting all the photos our friends took with us.
With shared photo albums on iOS6 it will be really easy to share a set of photos on your phone. It will not remind you to share and it will not consolidate everyone's photos into a single album.
With Flock you just use any camera app as you normally would and when you leave the event Flock gives you a 1-touch page (not automatic, users still have control) of what to share and with whom.
"Flock is not just a brand new app; we see it as a brand new kind of app. While most apps today jockey for our ever-dwindling time and attention, attempting to become one of the apps that we think about the most, Flock is different. We designed Flock so you don't have to think about it at all."
Great quote that really stands out after downloading the app. Fiancee and I are going to give it a try this weekend with some friends. I'm assuming, now that I've used it for a few hours, that it combines location AND time to make a best guess on what an event was. Very cool.
One thing that would be nice is to block out a certain location. For instance, we both take a ton of pictures at our house on a daily basis. For me, it's pictures of delicious things I'm pulling off the Big Green Egg. For her, it's pictures of our dog and her freshly-painted nails.
However, the instant combination of our travel photos earned a phone call from said fiancee. She loves it. Big props.
I saw there was an application for "Computer Science intern", is this newly created to solve this problem, or should I still be applying for the other positions I'm interested in?
By the way, the product looks amazing, but it's the team's enthusiasm that encouraged me to apply. A team that passionate has to be building something good. Keep it up guys.
