I’ve always heard it generally used as a synonym with dilute - generally speaking with drugs, cut often means incorporating any less expensive (not easily detectable) substance in with the original substance.
More times than not it will not be stronger, it will be compounds that are not psychoactive at all, effectively “cutting” the potency of the substance while multiplying the quantity.
There are cases with fentanyl where a stronger substance is mixed in with the original and this often is what you read about in the news, but it is not in generally in the distributors best interest to be killing their clientele.
Coming from a place of complete ignorance, are there indicators in galaxies that determine a top/bottom for lack of better words?
I can’t think of any that would make much sense as top/bottom would mean that there needs to be a relative universal point to reference and as far as I know, that doesn’t exist.
We are born with the corruption inside of us; we must use God's teachings of love to cleanse and purify our souls so that it becomes enlightened like the spirit.
But does the process of institutionalizing those teachings not go against those exact teachings themselves? At least for Christianity?
The point of the Grand Inquisitor chapter revolves around a fictional situation where Jesus returned to Earth during the inquisition, and posits the idea that Jesus was exactly the type of individual that the church would have been willing to purge during that time, criticizing the institution and the free will that is exchanged for structure and institution.
> But does the process of institutionalizing those teachings not go against those exact teachings themselves?
Not so long as we keep our moral compass as we are taught, in that we are to love God with all our being and then love our neighbors as ourself. That Great(est) Command(ment) could and should be carried by all the members (or at least a majority) of any group to guide their ideals, attitudes, and behaviors, if they are trying or claiming to act on behalf of God's Will. It's just that so very few human beings are willing to put aside their personal selfish desires to "be the servant of all".
> At least for Christianity?
That Great(est) Command(ment) is for all human beings since Adam, which includes Islam whose adherents should be using it as their guiding principle as well, because the Quran says that the Gospels were sent by the same Authority that sent it. That command is the real "Sharia Law" that we all live under, however religious we are or not: that we will reap what we sow, so we better use our free will to sow loving service to others' happiness with our life's energy.
The pack mentality of our baseline mammalian body and brain exists in all human groups, religious or not. Jesus was specifically referring to out-groups of any and every kind when he said, "That which you do to the least of my brothers and sisters, that you have done unto me." That, of course, encompasses other ethnicities, forms of religion (including atheists), sexual preference, and gender identity. We must love them, but also not let innocents be harmed. It's a tightrope, for sure.
Put another way, the most important way we should share the Word is in how we manifest our ideals, attitudes, and behaviors in alignment with God's teachings of love. Without such a true commitment to living the truth, our speaking the words of a holy book mean little. That's why Rumi says, "You have no idea how little we care about what a person says."
It's also why the Quran says that "You will know those who believe in the entire Quran because they return bad treatment with love." One can pick any verse from any book to justify any kind of ill treatment. If one is truly guided by God's Love, we will apply stern rebuke and/or kind mercy at the proper moment for the proper reason and will create a cascade of positive societal effect, without any measure whatsoever of either selfishness, pride, oppression, hatred, or cruelty. The glory does not come from us nor go to us; it goes to the Father.
> the idea that Jesus was exactly the type of individual that the church would have been willing to purge during that time
Surely, though I'd guess "willing and determined" would be more accurate.
Nothing is more powerful on Earth than a religious organization, no matter how crooked and misguided, so long as they can convince their members that their dominance of others is based upon an inherent superiority, as the CC have long since cultivated, irrespective of Jesus' beneficient teachings of love and selfless, patient service to all humanity. (It is also evident here in America, though they be cruel hypocrites, the entire lot of them.)
This is because the primary purpose of ALL power structures is to maintain their power. Acting on behalf of God's Love, we must give all the glory back to Its grace in humble gratitude and act merely as footsoldiers, not as ruling kings. No, we are to lift others up, not further downpress them.
And Jesus is crystal clear about those who harm children.
Yup, I was never much of a soda drinker but switching from coffee to loose leaf teas has been a huge move for me in my daily habits. I used to drink coffee until 3, 4, even 5pm and it was having negative effects on my health and sleep.
Now I just start the day with a mug of loose leaf tea and keep re-steeping it as the day goes on. By the time noon comes around there is little to no caffeine left but I still get some tea flavor as well as the hit of hot liquid my body is used to.
When at home I brew gong fu style which keeps more caffeine as I reload the gaiwan or tea pot but that’s just a preference of mine. Highly recommend Chinese/Taiwanese teas, especially Oolong if you’re looking for an alternative to coffee or soda.
Highly recommend House of Huawei by Eva Dou, I didn’t know much about the history or background of this monolithic and demonized company so I picked it up and I have to say I found it fascinating.
If you’re interested in recent history or telecommunication development over the last 50 years it’s a great read. It’s not a technical deep dive nor a political hit piece, the author wrote for the Washington Post and it really reads like a long and in-depth article. Which is actually nice despite sometimes leaving me wanting for more, definitely made it a quick read.
Well, there are also countries like Switzerland where there is a substantially higher amount of gun ownership compared to that of the rest of Europe but very few of the same issues of other countries with similar ownership per capita. Though, that’s probably due to the required service training and the screenings that come along with it. And it being a relatively small country.
There are areas of similarly low crime in the US, depending on how you go about drawing lines on your map. Probably it is a mistake to treat any country as a single unit in such an analysis.
Did you outgrow the vase 500 searches that Cursor gives you per month and connect your API key for usage based pricing?
I’m having a hard time coming close to the 500 included in the monthly subscription and I use it like, a lot.
Just curious how you’re hitting that 200-300 mark unless you’re talking about paying Anthropic outside of cursor. Which I just now realized is probably the case.
Not an expert, but from my own research muscle will always atrophy to its functionally base necessary mass, there are of course genetics involved in muscle mass retention as well that can’t be overlooked. But you can be in a caloric deficit and your body is burning fat(which often times this leads to lower energy and less intense resistance training) while still losing muscle mass. I don’t believe they’re mutually exclusive.
You’re 100% right though, the key to retaining muscle mass while in a caloric deficit is consuming sufficient protein, or even over-consuming protein. In starvation situations muscle is next up after fat when getting consumed for energy but it seems like for the most part the muscle mass deterioration during significant weight loss periods is a natural side effect of the process and lifestyle required to accomplish it.
>1) compared with persons with normal weight, those with obesity have more muscle mass but poor muscle quality; 2) diet-induced weight loss reduces muscle mass without adversely affecting muscle strength; 3) weight loss improves global physical function, most likely because of reduced fat mass; 4) high protein intake helps preserve lean body and muscle mass during weight loss but does not improve muscle strength and could have adverse effects on metabolic function; 5) both endurance- and resistance-type exercise help preserve muscle mass during weight loss, and resistance-type exercise also improves muscle strength. We therefore conclude that weight-loss therapy, including a hypocaloric diet with adequate (but not excessive) protein intake and increased physical activity (particularly resistance-type exercise), should be promoted to maintain muscle mass and improve muscle strength and physical function in persons with obesity.
