I actually put together a userCSS to fix the two first points. I made it last year, haven't updated it recently but it's still up in my repo: https://github.com/gonzalocesar/sightsafe-hn

Android and Google Docs are overtaking their main turf, even if it is for regular consumers as of right now, it is still a huge change. The Azure stuff is recent and can't attempt vendor lock-in yet, maybe never, at least not to the extent Windows and Office were able to.

There's an interview to Neumann by BI where he talks about that exact same thing. Makes one wonder if they're betting it all on a recession for things to "work" (heh)

The interview, soft paywall: https://www.businessinsider.com/wework-ceo-adam-neumann-busi...

I don't like this pattern, more than VC funded startups they are more like QE funded startups, regurgitating your own devalued money as a favour. Uber comes to mind, too.

> Meet the newest Android Q (10) which is available as a beta. The permission levels are there for what you wish.

I would like to congratulate Google for such hard work. I mean, CyanogenMod 7 in 2010 could revoke any app permission at the user's will, but you know, computers are difficult

When a dove came into my classroom in high school it started to fly in circles and perched at the projector in the ceiling.

Apparently it got confused by the artificial lightning (6500k fluorescent tubes) because once we killed the lights it went straight to the closed windows instead of the open door at the opposite side. We had to draw the curtains of every window except one for the dove to get out :(

I have it! It sets the country to Panama and a generated e-mail which I guess just redirects stuff to my real address? I haven't bothered to check that. It's using whoisguard.com for the garbled email.

The domain is "thelittleshits.net" (I'm absolutely serious, I needed a domain for testing a deployment and couldn't come up with anything)

I got curious about how tiny the SE is (I never had an iPhone) so I compared it [1] to my beloved Lumia 620 (RIP power button) and my current Moto Z2 Play. And wow, I totally get the feeling.

For me it's not even about one-handed use, I can reach the opposite corner just fine with one hand, but the bulge in my jeans' pocket is really uncomfortable, the corner of the phone pinches my leg and you have to rearrange the brick inside the pocket quite often or it hurts when walking.

I'm this close to replacing this huge thing.

I remember elementaryOS had a GUI for this in its app store. Never got around to try it, Linux is not well known in the consumer world, let alone Elementary

Every once in a while some random journalist decides to cry foul about the demise of Google Reader and the death of the Open Web, but the 2013 redesigns of Twitter and Facebook seem more likely to be the cause, both in functionality and policies.

It was very clear cut at the time, Twitter did a 180° and left RSS along with lean HTML and got super slow and noisy (so much for adtech.) Facebook started changing its appearance compulsively and adding random crap. Then it removed itself from search engines for vendor-lock maxima.

I think it's safe to say CO2 levels in your office are already over the limit with coworkers making arguments like that lol

The company saved $25 though!
