There it is, and I've never seen that area before.

Well... you can write Apple Shortcuts that send AI requests to their cloud.

I often use Apple Intelligence to proofread emails before I send them. It's nice that it runs on device. I don't think I ever had a use case where it would have to use their Private Cloud though.

Now, with a tear in my eye, I wanna know about Tom. I hope this post gets to him somehow.

He had just joined WED the same year he sent that reply (1979). Worked there until 2020 in various leadership roles. Seems to have been particularly involved in the making of EPCOT.

A web search shows all kinds of interesting interviews etc.

He sent the letter in April 1979! He was only 3 months into the job.

Classic, have the new guy deal with the fan mail.

He still works at WDI.

Nice!

I'm no expert and don't know the full extent of what's already happening and what this ban would change, but I would say there is evidence that this is already happening.

In a recent episode of Clive Myrie's African Adventure where he goes to Ghana, he "heads to one of the world’s biggest second-hand markets to meet the designers giving discarded clothes a second chance".

They show a lady that bought a "crate" of random unsold clothes for around 500 USD, and she prays before opening it hoping it will contain clothes in good condition she can resell. The show claims that on a "good day" she can make something like 50 USD on such a crate.

They also (very) briefly show a huge landfill of what appear to be discarded clothes.

Keep in mind that this is only an entertainment show, so this is most likely only the tip of the iceberg.

Don't vibe with it. Give me a 2 door Porsche EV.

With touch panel controls everywhere?

Yes, but I have a different design language in mind.

Ideally: off-site backup and archive-tier object storage in the cloud.

Some would argue that most stories in Western societies are echoing the Bible. The Matrix is in many ways the story of Jesus (Morpheus is John the Baptist).

I thought the Wachowskis even said so explicitly. Might be mixing it with deus ex where it is right on the nose.

Can you point to any official document which states it is illegal? Or any document which mentions any exceptions?

Art. 19, Paragraph 4 of the Copyright Act (CopA [1]).

The article lists the "Published works [that] may be used for private use" and that paragraph closes it with:

> This Article does not apply to computer programs.

I have been thinking of creating a similar app; however I wanted to do a "Sunday paper". This look nice and I like the minimalist design, but I would prefer to have solution that I can self-host.

The tool actually is open source, so you could self-host it if you wish. MIT license, in Python. The repository [1] is linked in the blog post the author wrote about the project [2].

The open source version is a bit different from the hosted one: the open source code involves running the polling script, then building a static site (which is how I run the site for several months as a single-user project).

I am planning to move the polling changes upstream soon and then figure out a plan for open sourcing the full project.

I've been thinking of it, too. And, I've created one a few years ago. It's been running 100% uptime and for free since then - lenns.io. I'd be happy if you give it a go and let me know what you think.

sfeed (https://codemadness.org/sfeed-simple-feed-parser.html) has basic infrastructure to do that
