It seems like everyone talks about Climate Change but when it comes down to it. Money Rules.

The software wouldn't necessarily run when the computer is in use. During Idle time would be an option.

The software would have to be open source and auditable. Closed source NO chance.

I think you overestimate how much "gamers" would care about open source.

I don't know. I just hear everyone is pissed off that GPU prices are so high because of crypto in my circle of friends. Maybe in other parts of the country they don't care as much.

Caring about prices doesn't mean caring about any of the other things you attached to it.

I think it's possible but they necessarily wouldn't have to target bitcoin until later. Smaller Currencies to start and exposing the flaw will expose a hole even in bitcoin.

Exactly more people should have banded together to fight climate change and the pyramid scheme. I think to start gamers would have the most power to disrupt cryptocurrencies because they can leave there computers on and not necessarily mining all the time. Only when needed some kind of program could run when its time to attack. As the news pickup the grassroots movement then more people would join.

It would have to be starting with smaller coins with less marketcap that are easier to mine. Since some people would be scared of running a miner the miner used to start the attack would have to be open source and auditable for people to trust running the program.

Chicken Nood Soup bowls for $4.95? Don't they usually sell for a buck at the grocery store? Unless it's a high end brand.

Most of the cost was labor, according to the picture in the article. I don't know which dining hall or cafe the "canteen" they're referring to is, but much of the food sold on Harvard's campus is produced by unionized dining hall staff with decent pay, hours, and benefits, which affects the costs.

Personally I could see that information back firing, some places are very stingy with ingredients like chicken, and I'd feel doubly cheated if they did that after admitting it's only 5% of their total cost!

This was in a cafeteria.

At Harvard

Hopefully this will lead to better treatment of brain tumors and other diseases.

There are so many gamer's out there that I am wondering why they haven't united to take down Bitcoin and Other Cryptocurrencies with their powerful gaming PC's.

They are pissed off about GPU prices being high and all the crime and the environmental impact Bitcoin causes they can get together to undermine the network. If gamers started a mining pool not for profit but to take down the network I can see it happening. First start mining with smaller cryptocurrencies, the money goes to encrypted wallets that no one controls then start posting fake transactions with that money to clog up the network.

As publicity gets more people to join the project, they can then start performing 51% attacks to further undermine the network. At some point that crypto will be worthless and they can move on to a bigger one then just repeat until they get up to bitcoin. But as the mainstream media picks up the story I don't think they would even need to get to Bitcoin as everything will collapses.

Conclusion: Better Environment, Less Financial Fraud, LOWER GPU prices. Someone start the project and call it "Gamers VS Crypto" or something like that.

GPU mining is no longer profitable and is being used a scapegoat for a shortage of GPU chips.

I think in a large mining pool this is still a possibility to attack the network with 20 Series Nvidia and Above / Equivalent Video Cards. Especially if gamers get together to attack the network, the pool can grow into the millions of users.
