Not intentionally, but some cars have been vulnerable to remote control/hijacking since at least 2015.

I've noticed (in people I follow) that many Instagram posts also get posted to threads at the same time (automatically?). I didn't see it in the article, but I wonder how many of these users are posting on Instagram primarily with threads as side effect.

IG/Threads/FB are all a shared ecosystem with co-posting and such. X is an island apart. The network effect is absolutely in play.

I can't speak for the department near you, but in many departments, particularly towns/more rural areas, the fire department/fire station responds to both medical and fire calls. It very well may be the majority of responses were medical in nature. For example, 70% of NYFD call volume is medical [1].

(Assuming this is NY) Worth noting that NY license plates had a defect that caused the paint to delaminate [1]. I am not surprised that people intentionally do it, but this delamination used to be extremely common.

This happened in West Virginia. But according to the newspapers, it was because the prison inmates were peeing in the license plate paint.

This was pre-public internet, so no link that I could find.

That makes sense.

I suspect it gives cover for the ones that do it on purpose.

Here are two statements from some of the investors: https://www.longjourney.vc/news/cyans-substrate-tattoo

From a VC perspective, it does make sense to invest in EUV equipment tech. Being successful immediately makes the company one of the most important in the world (and opens up a $15B+ market).

The 3D-printed (and hot glued?) part in Figure 3 further support this theory (not that 3D prints can't be used in production).

Does your dental insurance not reimburse you? My dentist is also direct pay but submits for reimbursement on my behalf. They get paid up front and I get a check a few weeks later.

I cant speak to 2G networks, but 5G (and 4G) are amazingly simple to get started using OpenAirInterface. With a USRP B210 I had a 5G network running from a bare Ubuntu install in under 30 minutes. I used a smartphone and some cheap (blank, user-writable) SIM cards to connect and test it.

amazing thank you!

Here's an example for a Tacoma https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/threads/disabling-dcm-telemat...

Many cars have something similar (remove SIM card, cut antenna) that allows them to keep working without connectivity

Would be nice to have a page full of forum posts like this for various cars.

Incidentally, this link recommends termination resistors, which I think are the better answer if there's a suitable connector (which I imagine is the case for most cars). If it's not terminated, I believe it can still pick up a nontrivial signal.

These percentages seem a bit high compared to what I have seen. I usually see/hear about a 1-3mpg and 10-30% HP. I understand the point you are trying to make but "doubling of fuel economy and about an 80% jump in horsepower" is far from accurate, especially considering the downsides of a delete on every outside of the vehicle

shrug

Speaking from personal experience with a 2023 Chevy Duramax 3500, and a friend with a similar 3/4 ton Powerstroke.
