I agree with previous posts, I don't know any programmer who can 'choose' the language. Usually it's the boss who selects the language the whole team uses.
And then it's a job to pay bills and maybe child support.
But, clearly it's just his opinion, as he makes references to backslashes or forward slashes. It's an uninformed opinion?
In certain circles, we call this trolling. He knows what kind of response he will get. He's attacking .NET programmers. Let's see how they respond, etc.
It's clear what twitter is: it's a website, it's a SMS service for phones, messaging, service, etc.
There is plenty of vertical development that can be done by third parties, no need to focus on creating your own client.
In programming, twitter is like the IE mini-browser control you can drop into a window and create your own 'custom' browser. Clients like that aren't needed. Instead use the data in a new way, or provide a new data stream by tracking something in real life.
It looks like the market for a 'next generation DVD' format is much smaller than what they expected. There wasn't place for two formats, and even the remaining format isn't doing that well.
Either that, or the DRM-related inconvenience caused them to price themselves out of the market compared to online streaming.
On Facebook, 'you' are the product. I like to use their website, but all of the integration is not necessary and frankly annoying.
I will continue to use Facebook, and continue to block their integration with other websites. Maybe if I am compensated by Facebook for being their 'product' I will change my ways. Until then, I win.
I would say it is one of the greatest things. Not only can you get started on the WordPress website, but you can download it and run your own. It appeals to everyone, kind of like other great things: Google and Facebook come to mind. There's something for everyone to get excited about, from bloggers to programmers.
